Successful sports hall scheme in Dortmund

Old sports halls near schools in and around Dortmund are being replaced and new ones are erected. The halls are used by local sports clubs as well as the students. This way Dortmund Council makes a major investment in sports and in the health of its people. Two such halls are already in use, works on the third are underway, and the start on site for the fourth is expected for January.

Dortmund Council’s in-house architect developed their ideal sports hall design. For each project, the local circumstances have to be incorporated into the design. For example ground conditions or positioning on the available site. The next hall at the Immanuel Kant Gymnasium will be built as a mirror image so the entrance will end up in a logical place.

Construction of the halls is after tender procedures. Pellikaan already won three of these projects with technically and economically interesting bids. The energy requirement in our offer was significantly lower, reducing the council’s energy bills over the next 40 years of operation.
