Planning Award for Glass Mill Leisure Centre
Organised by London First, in conjunction with the Mayor of London, the Royal Town Planning Institute and London Councils, the London Planning Awards are the “Oscars” of the planning and development sector, celebrating the outstanding contribution of planners to the capital’s urban renaissance and raise the profile of planning in the capital.
Glass Mill Leisure Centre won the award for Best Built Project – Community Scale Scheme, which is the category for small-scale developments which have:
– Maximised the potential of the site
– Addressed climate change
– Delivered benefits for the wider public
– Achieved high quality design and enhanced the public realm
– Involved the local community in decision making
The Glass Mill Leisure Centre was commended for its “transformational impact on the wider area, benefits to the local community, design and ingenuity”. Leigh Pullan of designers LA Architects was handed the award by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson at the award ceremony last week.
